Can there be any doubt now about Netanyahu’s intentions and that of Hamas? While Hamas has been advocating for the complete eradication of Israel, Netanyahu’s Likud Party has been calling for the annexation of virtually all Palestinian territory since its inception and pointing to its Bible for justification.
Netanyahu is vowing to open a full assault on Rafah ‘with or without’ hostage deal even as mediators renew efforts to secure a truce ahead of the invasion of the city where more than 1 million people are sheltering.
As Netanyahu said at the beginning of the current war, “Remember Amalek!” He was referencing 1 Samuel 15: 2-3.
1 Samuel 15:2 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I remember that which Amalek did to Israel, how he laid wait for him in the way, when he came up from Egypt.
1 Samuel 15:3 Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.
Don’t get me wrong. The underlying issue is Netanyahu’s Likud Party’s founding doctrine and their interpretation of the term, “Zionism.” The meaning was, and is, the acquisition of all Palestinian land from the river to the sea.
Israel began forcing out the Palestinians from their generational homes in the new Israel beginning in 1948 when England, with the blessings of all predominantly Christian Western nations, took most of Palestine away from the Palestinians and created the new Israel. Upon the formation of the Likud Party, they penned their platform:
The Right of the Jewish People to the Land of Israel (Eretz Israel)
a. The right of the Jewish people to the land of Israel is eternal and indisputable and is linked with the right to security and peace; therefore, Judea and Samaria will not be handed to any foreign administration; between the Sea and the Jordan there will only be Israeli sovereignty.
b. A plan which relinquishes parts of western Eretz Israel, undermines our right to the country, unavoidably leads to the establishment of a “Palestinian State,” jeopardizes the security of the Jewish population, endangers the existence of the State of Israel. and frustrates any prospect of peace.

That’s the same thinking that’s holding me back. As well, it would be a good platform to use in advertising my novels (one is STILL under revision and is proving to be an enormous of a job, far more difficult than I’d anticipated).

A friend once told me I should write a book and I started. I was 20 pages in and decided it was too much with raising children. Now, I can’t sit long enough! I’d have to get one of those computer desks you can stand in front of and take turns up and down, standing, sitting, standing, sitting! LOL

Great idea. That, of course, is the problem with writing a book, sitting too much, especially through the winter, putting on pounds, and trying to shed those pounds in warmer weather (which necessarily subtracts from time writing). Now I’m more distracted with political events and feeling an imperative to speak out online.
You probably already know this, but once you build your characters and have established a general outline in your mind or in print, the characters tend to tell you what comes next from scene to scene (how they feel and how they interact). I recall getting rather obsessive when I was writing the first novel. I found myself carrying a notepad almost everywhere I went and making notes of things they “said” to me when I was doing other things such as dining out with the wife. Too, I began to feel what my characters felt from scene to scene even to the point of watery eyes when the professor and the chancellor were falling deeply in love. I was feeling what they were feeling. It was as though I were living that life–one that I would love to have lived.
The rewrite is going well but much slower than I’d anticipated, partly because I’m now following the advice of a retired English professor who built a house next door and moved in last year. I must admit, however, that revising the novel is much more difficult than writing it in the first place. I’d mentally lived the life that I wrote, and now I’m throwing out scenes that my characters and I lived, and struggling to make each chapter and scene congruent with the following narrative. I did not, however, toss out the romantic chapter. It’s my favorite.

I would think my novel would be rather easy to complete, as far as the characters go. It would only be about actual life events and people. I’d change the names of course, but anyone who knows the family, would instantly know who they were.
If I’m going to do it, I’d better get started. lol
I’m so glad you’re not “tossing out” the romantic chapter! That, I’m sure will be my favorite!

Hi Mare, sorry it’s taken so long to reply. Many developing and passing medical issues in the family have been getting in the way of my writing. However, I have now finished the first 5 chapters. I hope you’re still interested.
I would appreciate it if you would make notes as you or your son read. I’m especially interested in your comments on the flow of the narrative, wordiness, and any details that caused you to pause and wonder what the hell I was saying. Do not hesitate to be constructively critical.

BTW, I attempted to reestablish my presence on FB, but found that FB has blocked my return, saying that my content violated their policies. Quite astonishing, really. I suppose since Zuckerberg is solid with tRump, they’ve set their algarithums to reject the return of any antitrumpers and/or atheists who can argue with some degree of intelligence.
