American Theocracy Devalues, Controls Women

Some of us, especially women, have the feeling that our nation, in terms of both economic and social justice has taken a 180° turn and is careening headlong into the past.

Take a read and decide for yourselves. Is this what we want for women in our society?

Stop the war on women!

The disturbing Handmaid’s Tale (Hulu April 26) hinges on misogyny and controlling women and their bodies.

The main events of the tale have actually happened at some point in history, as I have written about before.

Unfortunately, the story also reflects our current political moment.

Why does history repeat itself. Is the human mind impervious to Enlightenment?

I think we have advanced, at lease in secular humanism where Reason, not organized religion, has taken hold. Too, since the age of Enlightenment, we’ve become aware of the dangers and damage that exclusive religious dogma has brought us for eons. As well, we no longer accept claims of demonic possession and we understand that flies are not born of rotting meat. Philosophy has advanced because of the Enlightenment. In my opinion, it’s led to far less xenophobia, which the worlds dominating religions, specifically the Abrahamic religions, promote.
